♡ PADMAAVAT ♡

♡  Rating : 10/10 ♡

"Set in medieval Rajasthan, Queen Padmavati is married to a noble king and they live in a prosperous fortress with their subjects until an ambitious Sultan hears of Padmavati's beauty and forms an obsessive love for the Queen of Mewar."

Let's talk about Padmaavat...

I think by now you all have heard about this movie, because of all the controversy around the movie. I want to make this review as helpful and precise as possible. Therefore, I did some research before starting to write.

♡ PADMAAVAT ♡

About the background of the movie : The initial title was "Padmavati" and they eventually changed it moments before the release of the movie, because of all the pressure and threats. After they started shooting for the movie, problems started to occur after Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the filmmaker was slapped and attacked by the shree rajput karni serna, and the set was vandalised. Extremists were upset over the movie because they thought it would deliver a bad image of the rajputs, and because of a so-called dream love sequence between Khilji and Padmavati. However, the filmmaker has stated that no such scene was in the movie.

In fact, the movie shows a very beautiful image of the Rajputs. Got ensued death threats against the lead actress, our dear Deepika Padukone. Many cinema halls do not screen the movie until now. However, the film is on the box office list. The crew had to face many obstacles and the release date was even shifted, and eventually the title was changed to Padmaavat, to make everyone understand that the story is indeed inspired by the story of Padmavati, but that it doesn't retrace exactly the way it all happened. If you are interested in knowing the legend of Padmavati, a poem, I suggest you read the Wikipedia page about it, very well documented in my opinion. You can click here to access it.

Now that you know more about the conditions while making the movie, let's jump into it !

♡ PADMAAVAT ♡

Let me tell you a bit about my own experience with the movie. Bollywood movies are rarely screened in Paris' cinema halls, but I found out by a friend that Padmavaat had one screening, not so far away from where I live. I got really excited and I was supposed to go there with a friend of mine (a desi friend!) but however our plan got cancelled and I ended up going alone. When I got there, I couldn't find the cinema hall and I saw a girl walking the opposite direction, so I just asked her if she knew where it was. We talked a bit and realized we were both lost and going to watch the same movie ! She was indian, and absolutely the sweetest ! It was so so nice meeting her, as she contributed into making this experience unforgettable for me. This movie means a lot to me because it is the first movie of Deepika that I watch in a cinema hall. You all know she's my absolute favorite ! So anyway, I feel like it was just destiny, faith that made us meet and now we're friends ! It always nice to share nice things with great people.

The movie amazed me, I am not exagerating in any way. It took me to some other place, I was so focused on it that I was probably keeping my mouth open the entire time. The scenery, the costumes, the acting, the songs, the choreographies, everything, everything was perfect. Nothing was missing. You can litteraly feel how much soul and hard work they have ALL put into this. I mean the whole crew, anyone that was involved in this project.

I honestly think it's Deepika's best movie, outstanding Om Shanti Om & Piku. She is dignity, elegance personified and I can't see anyone else than her as Padmavati, she gave her life. Her beauty is indescribable and the purity in her eyes is real and is a testimony of her innocence, and talent. She is such a hard worker and I am so proud of her. I couldn't take my eyes off her and she deserves every bit of her success, she is a self-made artist and has the elegance of her elders Rekha, to only quote her. Deepika is extremely humble and I love the vibes she has, from the old bollywood movies everyone loves ! I am so excited about her movie choices and I simply cannot wait to see what she has in store for us in the future !

Now let's talk about Ranveer Singh. He is absolutely incredible. The energy he has, the talent, everything.. He's also very handsome ! But seriously, he's the only one who's a 10/10 after SRK. I can only think of him as a leader after SRK. He can do anything, he's so hard-working and funny at the same time. He's really killing it in this movie, I have no words.

To be honest, I didn't use to like Shahid Kapoor at first, a few years ago and wasn't convinced by his performance in Milenge Milenge but he's such a good actor. Other that MM, I have only seen great performances from him, and I'm so happy to see his talent on screen ! He's also super handsome and oh my god his wife Mira Rajput is also beautiful ! He was amazing in Padmavati.

The story is amazing, beautiful and heart-touching and gives a wonderful image of Rajputs. The climax scene is simply perfect and got me hooked. You just have to sit and let the team tell you a story.

Padmavati was a huge challenge, on every aspect, and I can confidently say they nailed it. And the scores on the Box-Office confirms it. Hats off to the whole team ! Padmavati is a story of courage, love and pride ! The kind of movie that should make the entire country proud.

Here are my favorite two songs. I love Ghoomar, and I love my Deepiku in it. Khalibali is mind-blowing thanks to Ranveer's performance. You can see his talent in a three-minute video.
